Arrears: what happens when owners do not pay in Uzbekistan

Short answer

If an owner does not pay the mandatory payments into the building's bank account by the 15th of the month, a penalty accrues for each day of delay in the Mening uyim system: 0.4 per cent of the overdue amount for legal entities and 0.1 per cent for individuals, but not more than 50 per cent of the overdue amount for the month.

What this means in practice

The penalty is paid in equal shares to the building's account and to the costs of maintaining the system. The same decree provides that, while an owner is in arrears, that owner's payments for electricity are not accepted until the debt is cleared.
