Before the installer leaves: logins, API and documents you must receive
A door panel that works is not the same as a system you control. When the installer leaves without the administrator logins and the integration details, every later change goes back through that installer, and connecting the hardware to a resident app can stop there: hardware with no interface cannot be connected.
This is a checklist for the contract and the handover day of an intercom or access-control installation. It applies whichever system you use. The last section says what Unitify does with what you receive.
Short answer
Before sign-off you should hold the administrator login of every device, the description of its integration interface (API, SIP, ISAPI or ONVIF), the network and cloud access details, the licence terms, a card or fob list tied to apartments, and a written test of door opening, calls and logs.
Put it in the contract
Administrator logins for every device
The administrator login and password of each door panel, access controller, camera, switch and recorder, delivered to you as the owner and not kept by the installer.
The integration interface
Which interface each device offers (API, SIP, ISAPI or ONVIF), with its documentation. A panel that offers none cannot be connected to a resident app later.
Network and cloud access
The network plan (addresses and ports), the router and switch logins, and how any manufacturer cloud account is registered: to whom, and with which e-mail address.
Licences and who pays
Which functions need a licence or a cloud subscription, who holds it, what it costs to renew and what stops working if it lapses.
Card and fob numbering
A file that links every card or fob number to an apartment, so access can be tied to the resident later.
Documentation
The wiring diagram, a device list with models, serial numbers and firmware versions, and a backup of the settings.
Test before you sign off
Door opening
Open every door and gate from the panel, with a card or fob and, where there is one, from the phone.
Calls
Call each apartment from the panel and check that the call arrives and the picture is clear.
Logs
Open the event log and check that openings and failed attempts are recorded with the time and the card number.
Cameras
View each camera stream on your own device, not on the installer’s laptop.
Restart
Switch the controller off and on and check that the doors still follow the settings.
A written protocol
Both sides sign a short protocol listing what was tested and the result.
If the installer is gone
Check what you hold
List the devices and the logins you have. For each device without a login, note the model.
Ask the manufacturer or its local distributor
Ask how an administrator password is recovered for that model and what proof of ownership is needed.
Send us the exact model
We tell you before you commit whether the hardware has an interface we can connect.
What Unitify does with it
Connection through the device’s own interface
Intercoms, door panels and controllers are connected to the resident app through their own interface (API, SIP, ISAPI, ONVIF): the call from the panel, opening the door, cameras. It is project work, not a ready-made plug-in for every model, and we confirm the exact model before the contract.
Meters
Smart meters and metering systems that expose an interface are connected under the project; readings can also come from residents in the app or from a file.
What we need from you
The device list, the integration documentation, the administrator logins we are allowed to use and network access for a test.
Keys and fobs on handover day
Fobs and digital passes are issued in the same flow where your access system has an integration interface; otherwise they are recorded in the journal by hand.
Key handover
Installer handover: questions
What should an installer hand over for an intercom or access-control system?
The administrator login of every device, the integration interface (API, SIP, ISAPI or ONVIF) with its documentation, the network and cloud access details, the licence terms, a list that links cards or fobs to apartments and a written test of door opening, calls and logs.
Why do I need the administrator logins?
Without them, every change goes through the installer, and connecting a device to a resident app needs them.
Can you connect the intercom and access hardware we already have?
Usually yes. If the panel, controller, camera or meter exposes an integration interface (an API, SIP, ONVIF or a Modbus or M-Bus gateway), we connect it to the resident app under the project. Hardware with no interface cannot be connected, and we check the exact model before you commit.
Who pays for licences?
That is a term of your contract with the installer or the manufacturer. Ask for it in writing, together with what stops working if it lapses.
What if the installer has gone and there are no logins?
List the devices and models, ask the manufacturer or its local distributor how an administrator password is recovered for each model, and send us the exact models. We tell you whether the hardware has an interface we can connect.
Which hardware should I choose?
Choose by interface, not by logo: IP door panels with SIP or an open manufacturer API, a door relay or access controller, and a PoE network at every entrance. Any such system can be tied to Unitify under the project.
