Access control and intercom integration (SIP) for residential buildings

Residents expect to answer the door, open a gate and let a guest in from the same app they use for requests and notices. Behind that sit door panels, intercoms, barriers and access controllers from different makers.

This page says which hardware can be connected, what flows between the hardware and Unitify, and what is set up per project. There is no ready-made integration for every model; the interface of the device decides.

Short answer

Door, intercom, gate and access hardware that exposes an integration interface (SIP, an HTTP API or ONVIF) can be connected to the resident app under a project. We check the exact model first. Hardware with no interface cannot be connected. Digital guest passes work today as a QR code and a visitor record.

What this connection is for

  • Intercom calls in the app

A visitor rings, the call reaches the resident's phone, and the resident sees who is at the door and opens it.

  • Doors, gates and barriers

Open an entrance, a gate or a barrier from the phone.

  • Guest and vehicle passes

A resident issues a pass for a guest or a car, and the front desk or the controller checks it.

What data moves, and in which direction

Each line says whether it works today or is set up for your project.

  • Works today

Guest and vehicle passes: out of Unitify

A pass is a QR code and a visitor record that the front desk checks. This works today without any hardware integration.

  • Set up per project

    Open command: out of Unitify

The resident taps the door in the app and Unitify sends the command to the device through its interface.

  • Set up per project

Call and door events: into Unitify

The device reports a call, a door opened or a failed attempt, so the app and the building record show it.

How a connection is set up

Which one applies depends on the device.

  • Set up per project

    SIP

For an IP door panel or intercom with a SIP server: the video call is delivered into the resident app.

  • Set up per project

    Device API

An HTTP API on the panel, controller or relay: commands out, events in, built from the manufacturer's documentation.

  • Set up per project

    ONVIF

For cameras and some controllers: video and device events through the open ONVIF standard.

  • Set up per project

    Gateway or relay

A door relay or a controller that the building network can reach, with the open command wired to it.

What you provide

  • The exact model

The make and model of each panel, controller and relay, and its firmware version.

  • The interface documentation

The API or SIP documentation from the manufacturer, and access to a test unit.

  • A network that reaches the devices

A PoE network at each entrance and a way for Unitify to reach the devices. The installer handover checklist lists the logins, API access and network details.

The honest limits

  • No ready-made integration for every model. A connection is project work. We confirm the exact model before you commit and do not promise a plug-in for a device we have not tested.
  • Hardware with no interface cannot be connected. If the panel or controller offers no SIP, API or ONVIF, there is nothing to connect to.
  • Doors open from the phone only with an integration. Without one, a pass is a QR code and a visitor record checked at the door.

Access control and intercoms: questions

Which intercoms and access controllers can you connect?

Any with an integration interface: SIP, an HTTP API or ONVIF. We do not publish a list of models. We check the exact device and confirm it before you commit.

Is there a ready-made integration for my intercom?

Not as a plug-in you switch on. Hardware is connected under a project, from the manufacturer's interface documentation and a test unit.

Can residents open the door from the app?

Yes, once the door hardware is connected to Unitify through its interface. Without that, a guest pass is a QR code and a visitor record.

What if my hardware has no API?

Then it cannot be connected. Some devices can be replaced or paired with a relay that has an interface; we say so after checking the model.

What do you need from the installer?

Logins, interface documentation, a test unit and a network that reaches the devices. The installer handover checklist lists them.

Can a hardware maker integrate with Unitify?

Yes. Send the interface documentation and a test unit to [email protected]. We assess it and connect it under a project.
